Dr. Erneo Nyakundi
Board Member
Dr Erneo Nyakundi Nyamboga is a Senior Lecturer, an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, a Journalism practitioner, and an accredited Media Council of Kenya Media Law and Ethics trainer.
He is a member of various professional bodies: Law Society of Kenya; East Africa Law Society; Chartered Institute of Arbitrators –Kenya; Media Council of Kenya; East Africa Communication
Association; Organization for Social Science Research in Eastern and Southern Africa; Kenya Editors Guild (where he once sat in the Legal and Ethics committee) and; New Dispensation Communication Scholars Society (where he is President).
He holds a PhD Degree in Communication Studies (Moi University), a Master of Arts Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication (University of Mysore), Post Graduate Diploma in Law
(Kenya School of Law), Bachelor of Laws Degree (University of Nairobi), and Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology (University of Nairobi).
Currently, he is on sabbatical leave from Moi University, and now serves as a Senior Lecturer at Daystar University School of Law. He is a contractual partner at Deutsche Welle Akademie in
the “Media Futures East Africa” Project as well.
Erneo is formerly Standard Media Group Associate Editor-Legal, and Bench Watch Columnist. He is an award winning journalist - Kenya Union of Journalists’ “Court Reporter of the Year”
(2004).
His academic interests are in: Law and policy in communication contexts (electronic media, print media); Law for Communication and Media professionals; Human Rights Law; Media Ethics;
Social Media Law; Qualitative Research Methodology; Management in News Media; News Writing; Editing for News media, Journals, Books and Research reports. He has since 2013
supervised to successful completion nine local and international doctoral students in the aforementioned areas of interest. He has published widely in media law, digital television, and social media.
